An IU South Bend internship is a form of structured and supervised experiential learning that integrates knowledge learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a real work situation. Internships provide students the opportunity to gain valuable experience, network, explore career fields, and make professional connections. An IU South Bend internship:
- involves a student, an employer supervisor, and a Faculty Internship Coordinator from IU South Bend
- includes observation, reflection, evaluation, and assessment
- may be a paid or unpaid experience
- may be an in-person, remote, or hybrid opportunity
- may generate from zero to six academic credit hours (depending on the number of hours worked as agreed upon with the Faculty Internship Supervisor)
