Parking Regulations
Citations are issued for violations of University Parking Regulations and regulations are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Displaying Permits: Parking permits must be hung from the rear-view mirror. The permit must face outward with nothing covering it so the numbers can easily be read from the outside of the windshield. If the vehicle does not have a rearview mirror, the permit must be clearly displayed on the driver’s side of the dashboard so that the numbers can easily be read from the outside of the windshield. For open air vehicles that cannot be secured an alternate permit will be issued, which must be clearly displayed on the driver’s side of the vehicle windshield.
Permit Renewal
Once purchased, student permits are retained and renewed each academic year. Permits will be automatically renewed for full-time faculty, staff and hourly employees who use payroll deduction each academic year. Employees who do not use payroll deduction for parking fees must renew their permit as necessary. Windshield permits must be renewed.
Temporary Permits
If you forget your permit, temporary permits are available for the day at no cost at the Parking Services office located in the Administration building.
Transfer of Permits
Permits may be transferred between vehicles driven by the same permit holder.
Lost Permits
Lost permits will be replaced for $10.00
Parking Refunds
Faculty and staff must return their permit to the Parking Services office and request cancellation of their payroll deduction.
Long Term Parking
University parking lots are intended to provide short term parking for those who are conducting university business on campus. They are not intended to provide long term parking or storage of a motor vehicle or other conveyance.
Trailers, campers, boats or similar conveyances may not be parked for storage on university property. Authorization must be obtained from Parking Services, or Campus Police, to park a vehicle on university property overnight. Vehicles that are determined to be abandoned on university property will be towed and disposed of according to Indiana State Law.
Speed Limit
The speed limit for motor vehicles on University Property is 10 mph. No vehicle may be operated in any parking lot or garage at a greater speed than is reasonable and prudent under existing conditions.
Safety Related Vehicle Issues
Any vehicle located on the campus which is causing a safety hazard, may be removed from campus. A safety hazard is identified as, but not limited to, leaking gas or oil, emitting toxic fumes or a vehicle that has rolled out of a parking space. Fines and costs related to relocation are the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
