Purpose
The IU South Bend Thomas Smith Memorial Fund was established by the IU South Bend Professional Staff Council to honor the memory of Thomas Smith, a valued colleague who was president of the Professional Staff Council at IU South Bend. The grant is intended to support IU South Bend professional and bi-weekly staff members who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at IU South Bend by providing up to $200 for tuition, books, supplies, or related student fees that are not covered by any other grant or scholarship.
Qualifications
1.Be full-time bi-weekly or professional staff member employed at IU South Bend.
2.Be formally admitted to IU South Bend.
3.Have a minimum 2.0/4.0 GPA- for current IU South Bend and Transfer students; High School GPA for beginning students.
4.Enroll in a minimum of 3 credit hours.
5.Complete the scholarship application by the deadline.
Selection
Recipients are selected by the IU South Bend Professional Staff Scholarship Committee each year. Preference is given to applicants who have not previously received this grant. A minimum of two awards are given each year. Awards may be used for an academic year and/or summer session; awards are not retroactive.

Complete the fillable application here. Applications for Fall scholarships are due June 15. Applications for Spring scholarships are due November 15. Turn in completed application to Rick Dennie, in person in Administration Building 151 or via email, rdennie@iusb.edu, no later than 5 pm on the day of the deadline.
