Satisfactory Academic Progress
Students receiving aid have their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) reviewed at least once per year. Students who do not meet the minimum standards are not eligible for financial aid.
SAP standards include three separate measures. Student must meet all three measures to pass SAP:
Qualitative
Undergraduate students must achieve a 2.0 GPA or their program minimum. Graduate students must achieve a 3.0 GPA.
Quantitative
Students must successfully complete at least 67% of all classes attempted.
Pace
Studies must be concluded by 150% of their published program length.
Appeals
In general, students should have a minimum 1.50 cumulative GPA and at least a 50% completion rate to file an appeal, in order to show that the student is capable of academic progress. Typically SAP appeals are accepted for the Fall and Spring terms only. Summer appeals will be considered on a case by case basis for unique situations such as:
- Summer is the final term
- Courses are offered only in the summer
- Summer courses are required in order to complete the degree in the upcoming Fall
See SAP Appeal Policy for additional criteria required to file an appeal.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Deadlines
Students are strongly encouraged to submit their SAP appeals as soon as possible once they receive their grades for the term (e.g., Submit in May for the subsequent Fall term).
Students must submit the SAP appeal online based on the deadlines below for which they are requesting aid. The online submission will then automatically route to the students’ academic advisor, who will then route it to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Students are strongly encouraged to reach out to their academic advisor to discuss their SAP appeal. Students who need help with submitting the appeal, should reach out the Titan Success Center.
- Priority Deadline: Submit the SAP appeal online Four weeks before the start of the term (official first day of classes), for which the student is requesting aid.

Student Submission Deadline: July 29, 2024, at 8:00 AM
100% Withdrawal Deadline: September 1, 2024, Sunday, 11.59 PM

Results and Notifications: Students may be placed on financial aid suspension, or financial aid probation, depending on their situation. Students will be notified of the SAP appeal review outcome through their official university email.
Reinstatement: Students who are on financial aid probation and have lost their financial aid eligibility may be able to regain their eligibility by meeting SAP criteria in subsequent evaluations or through a successful subsequent appeal.
Student Responsibilities: It is the student's responsibility to be aware of the SAP policy and deadlines. Failure to submit required documents by the specified deadlines may result in delayed financial aid disbursement or loss of aid.
