When you are budgeting for your education, it helps to know what you will be paying. We’ve made it easy by breaking costs down for you with our standard cost of attendance (COA) estimate at Money Smarts.
About Your Cost
Money Smarts is showing you the estimated COA for the full 2024–25 academic year (fall and spring semesters). Cut these numbers in half to figure out the cost of a single semester.
Your actual costs for housing and food, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses will vary based on:
The number of credit hours you take
Whether you are an Indiana resident
Your personal choices
Your travel habits
Your COA may differ from these estimates. Your total aid will be based on your estimated COA. Visit your Student Center in One.IU for your specific estimated cost. Visit University Fee List to see a list of academically related fees.

Calculating Need
The financial information from your FAFSA application is analyzed to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)/Student Aid Index (SAI). Factors determining the EFC/SAI include annual income, assets, and family size. Your financial need is the difference between the EFC/SAI and the COA. Financial Need is used to determine eligibility for federal student aid and other aid requiring specific need criteria be met.
