Medical Terminology
Introduction to Medical Terminology will provide the participant with a basic knowledge of Greek and Latin prefixes, suffixes, and word roots. Participants will also learn Medical Terminology related to anatomy and physiology, pathology, special procedures, laboratory procedures and pharmacology. This course will provide a foundation for a medical vocabulary including meaning, spelling and pronunciation.
Class Instructor – Michele Zachary
Michele Zachary is a Health Science Educator teaching an Early College Healthcare Specialist program for the past ten years at Elkhart Area Career Center. Michele has also been an EMS Instructor and paramedic in the pre-hospital environment for over 20 years. She served as the Director of a non-profit healthcare organization for eight years. Michele brings to the classroom this vast experience and knowledge to assist students in building their knowledge as they begin their healthcare careers.
She received her education at Indiana University South Bend with a Master’s degree in Public Affairs – Health Administration and Policy. Michele has also studied nursing and master’s level anatomy and physiology. She is a lifelong learner attending seminars and conferences. Michele has presented at national leadership and healthcare conferences. Michele has a strong passion for the healthcare profession and loves to share her passion, experience, and knowledge in the classroom.
