FAQs
What are digital signs?
Digital signs are an internal campus communication method for Indiana University South Bend. Electronic monitors are placed throughout certain buildings on campus to reach students, faculty and staff.
What information can I submit?
The displays are intended for the promotion of IU South Bend related activities, events and PSAs that may appeal to a wide audience of students, faculty and staff.
What is not allowed?
The signs are not for individual activities or for selling personal items, advertising for non-university events or promoting points of view or opinions. Promotion of individual courses or degree programs is not appropriate for this channel. However, a department or school’s open house/info session/event is allowed on the signs.
Per IU's non-solicitation policy: Promotion of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or products or services that are contrary to the policies or mission of the university or activities relating to outside business interests are not permitted.
Who monitors the signs to make sure posted items are appropriate and correct?
It is your responsibility to perform due diligence to ensure your slide is appropriate for students, faculty, and staff and is accurate and grammatically correct. Administrators in the Office of Communications and Marketing have the authority to delete requests as needed.
What are the specifications for my submission?
Your slide submission should be in the form of a .jpg or .png file 1352x777. Submissions must have an end date and submissions can be displayed for up to 30 days depending on inventory. Slides are displayed in a rotation for 8-12 seconds.
How do I request a sign?
Fill out the form on this page and attach your message image with the specifications detailed above at least a week in advance.
What are some overall best practices for digital messages?
Think of the messages as a billboard. Keep your image as concise and clearly formatted as possible for easy reading. Limit the amount of text you include, utilize bulleted lists instead of blocks of copy when possible, bold important details.
Why didn’t my message run?
Submissions may be rescheduled or rejected at the discretion of administrators due to high volume, formatting issues, inappropriate content, or general lack of adherence to guidelines. If your submission is rejected, you will be notified and given a reason and/or steps to take to make the slide compliant.
