Placement Exams
Most students are required to take both the Math and English placement exams. Placement exams are used to place new students into the appropriate math and English composition courses, according to their skill level. The English exam is administered on campus and the math exam is administered online. More information about placement exams can be found on IU South Bend's placement exams website.
Exam Proctoring for Online Courses
At this time we are only able to proctor exams for IU students taking online courses from an IU campus (this included courses taken through Indiana High School). We are unable to proctor exams for students not enrolled at IU and taking courses from other colleges or universities. We hope to offer this service in the future.
If you are an IU South Bend or IU student taking an IU online course, please contact the Testing & Proctoring Center (tpciusb@iusb.edu) to schedule an appointment. AT LEAST 48 business hours (2 days) advance notice is requested when scheduling exams, more if at all possible. The Testing & Proctoring Center is used by many departments and testing dates may be restricted.
Tests may be scheduled during normal business hours but appointments are not firm until you have received a confirmation from the Testing and Proctoring Center. In many IU South Bend courses, testing times have been pre-established. Be sure to check emails from your instructor regarding instructions for the test, so you know the available days/times, as well as what materials can or cannot be used during the test.
Please make sure to schedule your exam with enough time to complete it by closing time (usually 5pm.) ie: If you have a two hour exam, make sure to start it by 3pm.
Core Academic Skills Assessment (CASA) Exam
IU South Bend is no longer a testing site for the CASA exam.
