Single Parent/Returning/Non-Traditional Student Resources

Scholarship criteria:

• non-traditional students attending Indiana University South Bend who have been out of high school for at least three years
• enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester the year the Scholarship is awarded.
• Financial need as determined by the FAFSA
• GPA
• Community service will also be considered

Because, as part of its mission, Indiana University is committed to diversity, special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations, including but not limited to financially challenged students, and/or students with diverse cultural experiences.

• Preference for students who provide a written recommendation attesting to their religious affiliation.

Scholarships criteria:

• Enrolled in the General Studies program at IUSB.
• Preference will be given to a non-traditional student, returning to the classroom after at least a five year absence, with financial need.

Scholarship criteria:

• Undergraduate student at IUSB who has been admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
• Students shall be registered for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
• Preference in awarding the scholarship shall be given to students:
  • who are single parents, through spousal death or divorce, and who are gainfully employed outside the home a minimum of 15 hours per week. 

Scholarship criteria:

• Single adults (18 years of age or older) with primary custody of their child/children
• Have a current IUSB grade average of "C" or completed high school with a "C" average or better
• Be enrolled as a student at IUSB
• Preference will be given to applicants who are single, female parents

Scholarships criteria:

• Enrolled at IUSB who meet the following criteria:
  • Taking at least one course at the IU South Bend Elkhart Center
  • A resident of Elkhart County, Indiana
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale
  • Preference will be given to a single mother

Scholarship criteria:

• Returning undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the School of Social Work at IU South Bend
