Chad Edward Pearson Memorial Scholarship
Chad Edward Pearson (1972-1994) achieved distinction as an Honors Program student, a Freshman Peer Mentor, and as the coordinator of the Honors Tutoring Program at Indiana University South Bend. To honor and perpetuate Chad’s memory, the CHAD EDWARD PEARSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, established by the generous gifts of his parents, family, and many friends, provides scholarship support for IU South Bend students whose achievements, talents, contributions, and potentials are comparable to those manifests in Chad’s life. The scholarship is for students who show academic merit by a 3.3+ cumulative GPA after 48 credit hours of IU South Bend courses, and who demonstrates service to others and who intend to pursue a career in human services, public service, or education.
Students Must
Be a citizen of the United States of America or is in the process of obtaining United States citizenship;
Have successfully completed forty-eight (48) IU South Bend credits, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher;
Have demonstrated service of any kind (paid or unpaid) to students of IU South Bend or to others; and
Have expressed his or her intention to pursue a career in human services, public service, or education.
Award
The Chad Edward Pearson Memorial Scholarship value is estimated at $3,000 to $5,000 annually, depending on the availability funds. Each award is for merit on a no-need basis.
Renewal
Students are eligible to reapply for the scholarship on an annual basis, up to completion of the first bachelor’s degree as long as they continue to meet the criteria. Student must complete the application and all accompanying forms to be eligible for renewal.

Apply via the Online Scholarship Application from the Scholarship tile in One.IU. After completing your general application, search for the Chad Edward Pearson Memorial Scholarship and submit the additional application.
