Engage IU South Bend Internship Award

The Engage IU South Bend Internship Award provides $1,000 to support qualified students while they complete an unpaid internship at a non-profit organization. The program pays the first 100 hours of the internship at IU's minimum wage of $10.15/hour. This is a competitive award; preference will be given to students who have not had a prior internship. An effort will be made to provide awards to students from a range of majors.

Eligibility

Students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • A 2.5 cumulative gpa or higher
  • Completion of at least 30 credit hours at the time of application
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credits (not including the internship). Preference will be given to students who are full time. During the summer, students only need to be enrolled in the internship course. Graduate students need to be enrolled for 6 credits (including the internship).

    The internship must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Include at least 100 hours of internship work (on site)
  • Be unpaid
  • Be related to the student’s academic focus
  • Be taken for academic credit
  • Students are eligible to receive this stipend a maximum of two times
