The 2019-2020 award winner of The Centellas - Student Leader of the Year is Rodger Pinto. Here are few things that the nominators had to say:
“Rodger has served as the student body president over the past year, serving on a multitude of campus committees, and overseeing the most productive student government in years. Even now, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rodger has advocated for students in daily meetings from his home with trustees and campus administrators. He played a pivotal role in the changing of the SGA constitution which promotes a more diverse and productive SGA. Rodger was instrumental in executing the IUSB Jazz Festival and the SGA Benefit Dinner for the Emergency Student Relief Fund. Rodger was selected as one of the top Student Veterans in the country to visit Capitol Hill and the White House to advocate for student veterans across the country. He was also later a finalist for the Student Veterans of America's Student Veteran of the Year. Rodger has been very involved within our campus community and ensuring that student voices are heard. He pushes for people to succeed, is an excellent communicator, great at distributing tasks and ensuring that they are accomplished, and supports people as they make mistakes and learn. Rodger possesses a work ethic and determination not matched by anyone I know, and is genuinely dedicated to improving the quality of college experiences on campus.”
