The 2019-2020 award winner of Educator of the Year is Jamie Smith. Here are few things that the nominators had to say:
“Professor Smith has been one of the best things about Indiana University South Bend since I started attending. Specifically, for the 2019-2020 school year I took his course on Political Parties and Interest Groups. Throughout this course I have never learned so much information so quickly and accurately. Students sometimes dread specific classes in college, but I cannot name one student who didn't enjoy learning from Professor Smith. Every day he would start the class truly wanting to know how our days/other classes were going, you weren't just some random student to him. He helped me learn more about not only my major, but the impact that my studies have on the future. During class we would do simulations and get to work hands on with other students, which in my opinion is more beneficial than watching a PowerPoint up on a screen. He helped us form cohorts with our classmates and be able to depend on one another for help on assignments. One last thing I would like to mention is his ability to communicate. If my group members and I ever had questions, he would be readily available to assist us in any way possible. Overall, Professor Smith has been one of the best educators that I have ever had and I am grateful to have learned from him.”
