March 21, 2024
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you were able to enjoy a bit of down time last week, whether you were here in town or away. The weeks between spring break and commencement are always one of my favorite times of year, with so much to celebrate. Speaking of celebration, congratulations to our Women’s Basketball Team on their second straight CCAC Tournament Championship and making it to the second round of the NAIA Championships!
In this month’s message, I want to highlight just a few of the events or happenings we can look forward to in the month ahead.
This coming Saturday, March 23, we will be welcoming the families of our current students to campus for our inaugural Family Day. This event will provide families with an opportunity to learn more about our Titan community. Thanks to VC Vitangeli and her planning team for getting this event together and to all who have signed up to participate. We are expecting over 200 students and their families, so it promises to be a fantastic day!
On Monday, March 25, I will be hosting my third annual Women’s Leadership Panel in honor of Women’s History Month, in partnership with Women’s & Gender Studies. This year’s theme will be leading in times of polarization. I am excited to bring this group of community leaders to campus to hear their journeys and perspectives on this important topic.
We have also been gearing up for the Solar Eclipse with a series of Meet the Stars events. The next event is scheduled for March 26 and includes a trip to our observatory. On April 3 Dr. Jay VanderVeen & Dr. Henry Scott will also be presenting on How Early Cultures Explained an Eclipse. On April 8 we will be having a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party on Green Lawn.
On April 7 the Student Government Association and Student Life will come together to host their annual Leadership Award Ceremony honoring those fostering positive change and growth within our university. All are welcome to attend. This is always an inspirational event!
IU Day on April 17 is a worldwide event honoring Indiana University and the people who make IU possible. Be sure to check out all the fun things we have planned for this special day.
Finally, the next Coffee with the Chancellor will be on Thursday, April 4 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in the University Grill. I hope to see you there to socialize with colleagues and hear updates on campus initiatives, events, and celebrations!
With Hoosier Spirit and Titan Pride,
