Greetings Fellow Titans,
Thank you to all who joined us for last month’s Welcome Back. In case you missed the event, the slides can be found here. I plan on holding a Coffee with the Chancellor event a little later in the semester to bring us back together for more updates and celebrations. Keep an eye on the Daily Titan for more details.
Staying Informed
There is much activity happening at both the state and federal level right now. To stay informed, I encourage you to check out the University Relations Report, which provides both state and federal updates each week. You can subscribe to this newsletter and review recent editions at the link above. The other vice chancellors and I are in frequent contact with both our state and federal relations teams who have been working around the clock to stay informed and engage with both the state and federal branches of government.
You can also read the Chronicle of Higher Education, which everyone has access to as a member of the IU South Bend community. The Chronicle offers several different newsletters that can be sent right to your inbox.
Wellness
As a lifelong northern Indiana resident, I know the winter months can be challenging for wellbeing. Healthy IU continues to offer a variety of resources - everything from mindfulness programs, to support for caregivers, to nutritional advice.
SupportLinc EAP's licensed counselors are also available to you for 24/7 confidential short-term assistance and referrals. EAP offers up to six face-to-face counseling sessions per issue per year (in-person or virtual) in addition to financial and legal planning support and consultations. EAP also offers expert referrals for local service providers, including child and elder care, home repair, pet care, housing needs, and more.
Additionally, starting this week, IU medical plan participants and their families will have increased access to healthcare services through an expansion of the Marathon Health network of employee health centers into the region. Look for more information from IU Human Resources Benefits about this expanded access.
Finally, as a reminder, the Student Activities Center is now free to all IU South Bend employees. The track can be a great winter alternative for those who like to walk around campus in better weather.
Reminders
Applications for the next round of campus Professional Development Funding are being accepted until February 28th for spring and summer activities. Additionally, we are now accepting nominations for the 2025 Top 25 Titans through April 4. I hope you will take the time to nominate a colleague for this special recognition.
Go Titans!
Andy
