1997–2002
Kenneth Perrin was selected as Chancellor in IU South Bend in 1997 after a two year search. Under Perrin’s leadership, IU South Bend’s student government was expanded and the first plans for the student apartments were developed. Perrin also oversaw the opening of Wiekamp Hall in 1998 and the Student Activities Center in 2002.
Perrin came to IU South Bend from the University of Hawaii, where he served as senior vice president and chancellor. Earlier in his career, he served as President of West Chester University in Pennsylvania for 11 years.
Perrin earned a doctorate from Stanford University in 1969. After his retirement as Chancellor after five years of service, Perrin was named an Emeritus professor of psychology at IU South Bend.
