Alumna Helping in Nepal
An alumna from Indiana University South Bend has survived the massive earthquake and is helping in the recovery effort in Nepal.
Holly Tapley graduated from IU South Bend with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1991 and went on to get her Doctor of Medicine from IUPUI in 1996. She has been working as a physician in Nepal since 2002.
Her parents live in St. Joseph County and received a call from her about 3 a.m. on Saturday. She told them she was not injured and was helping treat victims of the earthquake. “She would never consider leaving at this time,” said her father Dr. Dwight Tapley. “She sounded very upbeat.”
